“Oh, you haven’t fought with me to know. I’m very stubborn when I argue. I have to be right.” Kat tilted her head and nodded, looking at him. “As well as GHB, right? Love, devotion and GHB. The perfect strawberries.” She smiled big and picked up the puppy, setting her on her chest. “I claimed that spot first though. It’s mine.” She giggled and kissed the puppy’s head. “I don’t always talk about it. It’s just one of my favorite movies. The eighties have better movies than now. And you cannot deny that. Specially with a character name like Long Duck Dong.” She nodded and raised her eyebrows, smiling as the pup fell asleep on her chest,
He smiled and nodded his head, laughing. He watched the puppy squirm in her arms for a few minutes, before setting her head on her chest and yawning. “Looks like it’s past Lucky’s bedtime.” He raised a brow as the puppy opened one eye, before yawning and closing them both again. He laughed quietly and kissed Kat’s cheek, pressing play on the DVD remote, to start the movie. “Well, you’re right. I like that name so I suppose these movies are good.” He stuck out his tongue at her and smiled. “Watch out, she barks in her sleep sometimes.”
“Oh my. Arthur may not like that having a dog bigger than him. He’s quite short, but fat. He needs to go on a diet.” Kat giggled and shook her head. “No, I’m really not. You just don’t know what you are talking about. I’m way too stubborn. Which is probably why Mom and I fought to begin with. I never back down and that’s a problem.” She covered her mouth with her hand and shook her head. “Oh my gosh! Really? Does this mean I’m going to get some weird disease now? Or is there some sort of drug to put me to sleep so you can take advantage of me?” She giggled and kissed his cheek, licking the chocolate off of his face. “I love them. Thank you so much, Ri.” She smiled big, taking a spot on his chest.
Riley laughed quietly and rolled his eyes. “Now now, you’re not so stubborn…sort of.” He nudged her playfully and laughed, wrinkling his nose as her tongue crossed his cheek. “No! It meant I put so much love and devotion into making these strawberries!” He grinned and nodded, shrugging his shoulders in the process as Lucky moved from his arms to lazily lay at his feet. “Oh, she is not happy with you right now. She’s been sleeping there for DAYS.” He winked playfully at Kat and let his arm encircle her waist. “What’s that movie you’re always talking about…sixteen candles? …I have it over there if you want me to pop it into the DVD player.”
“Thanks. It was kind of one of those names where I thought was crazy at first, but now that it’s his name, I can’t see it being anything else.” She smiled big and nodded her head. “Thankfully she’s still small.” She looked over at him and smiled, setting her hand on his face. “You are amazing, Riley. I really don’t know what I did to get you.” She kissed him before nodding her head, biting her lip at the thought of chocolate covered strawberries. “You really went all out did you?” Standing up, she went to the fridge and got a few, carrying them back to where they were resting. She gave him one and smiled, then ate one herself, smiling as she ate it. “It’s so good. Oh my gosh.”
He laughed quietly and nodded. “She was much smaller when I got her. I know she’s going to be a big one though. Look at her legs.” He smiled and picked up the little puppy, cradling her in his arms. “Oh shush, you’re amazing Kat. I’m the lucky one, and you know it.” He laughed and kissed her back, the puppy squirming in his arms. He nodded and grinned widely, running his fingers over the dog’s fur as she let her eyes fall shut. He cradled the now sleeping puppy in one hand and took the strawberry with the other, taking a bite, and licking the chocolate from his bottom lip. “I made em!” He said, quite proudly before finishing off the strawberry. “I’m glad you like them.”
“How cute. I don’t really know how I came up with Arthur. It just came to me when I saw him and that was his name. Taylor always teases me cause his name is Arthur.” She smiled and nodded. “Good. I don’t care to ruin anything we have tonight.” Standing up, she put on his sweatpants, smiling as she curled back up to him. Kat giggled as Lucky snuggled up to her and the blonde started to pet her. “Awe, she can stay. It’s not like she’s making a disturbance, right?” Laying her head on the boy’s chest, she petted the dog and closed her eyes. “This is one of those moments I never want to forget.”
"I like the name Arthur." He smiled and took a deep breath, and rolled his eyes. "No, she’s not. She’s already taken a liking to you, so I guess I won’t force her to go." He ran his fingers through her hair and sighed softly, shaking his head. "Never in any moment of the world would I forget this…no matter where you are." He smiled and reached for one of the waters on the side table, before opening it and taking a few sips. "There’s chocolate strawberries in the fridge…if you want some."
“What names do you even like?” She smiled and rested her head on his shoulders. “Nothing is in stone, yet. I still have a ton of things to do before I leave, which means I may not leave for a few months. And if things don’t work out medically and such, I can’t go. Who knows what will happen. I know what you mean. I hated not being near you. But this is my dream, Riley. I have always wanted to help other people out and this is my chance. But look, I don’t want to talk about it. I want to spend the time with you and be happy that I have such an amazing man in my life.” She nodded and kissed him, pulling away. “Let’s just ignore everything, please. I want us to have a good night together.”
"Maybe I’ll call her…Lucky. You know, like one of the dalmatians from the movies." He smiled and kissed her back, gazing into her eyes for a few moments. "Fine- we’ll talk about this another time but tonight…it’s just you and me." He whispered softly, wrapping an arm around her before he pressed his lips to hers again, more softly than before. "If you want to get comfortable, there’s clothes there for you…or if you brought your own, that’s cool too." He muttered quietly and stood up, stretching his arms over his head before dropping them to his sides. "I think I’ll put…Lucky…in the other room." The dog barked in protest and snuggled against Kat, before settling at his feet and rolling on her back for a tummy rub. He laughed quietly and rubbed her stomach, rolling his eyes slightly. "Or not…"
“You should probably do that first.” Kat giggled and nodded her head. “Yeah, I know I should have came here, but I just went to the closest house. I was too much of a mess to go farther in a car. Scarlette is good. We watched movies all night last night and ate ice cream today. I heard from my sister that Mama cooled down some, but I didn’t want to go over right away. I want to give her a few days.” Kat smiled as he kissed her, her eyes closing to kiss him back. “I got you that ticket to visit me. I know that it’s a really long trip. But I’m going to miss you and I want to see you. I got one for Alaska too. You guys are important to me and I can’t think about going six months without seeing you guys at least once. But these tickets, are good for four trips. I used my college fund to get them. I can’t go without you.” Kat rubbed her lips and sighed. “I mean, I know that I made the decision, but I’m terrified. This is another country. Somewhere I have never been. I would love to know that there are people that I love coming to see me. I love you, Riley. I don’t want this to end because of distance.”
"I can’t think of a name for her…" He shrugged his shoulders and smiled. "I trust her more than I trust a lot of people here- and she doesn’t even like me." He laughed quietly and nodded, before a serious look took over his features. "I’m going to miss you too Kat…but months without seeing you…that’ll kill me. I was so distraught after not seeing you for almost a month…and now this…” He sighed softly and ran a hand through his hair, suddenly not in the mood much for what he had planned for the night. Part of him wanted to beg, plead her to stay here with him, and part of him wanted to get angry- but the look in her eyes and the determination in her face quickly put it aside. “We’ll see…okay…I’ve never done the distance thing and we’ll just…see.”
Smiling as she looked down at the dog, Kat bent over and petted her. “She’s so cute. Have you figured out a name yet?” Picking the puppy up, Kat smiled as she looked down, rubbing her nose against the dog’s. “I miss my dog so much. Ugh.” She hated not being around Arthur. She didn’t realize how hard it was to actually be away from him. “This is amazing. I can’t believe you did this.” She walked over and smiled, kissing him again. “This is perfect. But, I think I should tell you what has been going on first. Figured you should know everything.” Kat sat down and took a deep breath, her right hand starting to play with the ring that was on her finger. “I’m living at Scarlette’s. Well, staying. Mama kicked me out. Well, not really, but she is mad and I had to get out of there for a little.” Looking up at him, she pulled out a plane ticket that she bought for Riley, letting him look at it first. “I am going to do the Corps. I can’t imagine doing anything else. And it’s all I want to do. Mom found out and that’s why she’s angry. But, I can’t go to college when my passion is helping others out.” The blonde lowered her head, realizing that Riley will probably be mad. “I realized it while I was in Mexico. Seeing the smiles on the kids faces, I had to change. I can’t be the person everyone wants me to be.”
"I haven’t found one for her yet to be totally honest." He laughed quietly and bit his bottom lip softly, a flash of worry moving through his features. He pressed their lips together briefly and sat next to her, his arm wrapping around her waist. "She…what…" He ran a hand through his hair, and relaxed slightly when she said that she had somewhere to stay…although he had wished she came to him first, he knew that Scarlette was someone he could trust. He held the plane ticket in his hand, confusion now evident in his eyes, before he raised them back to her. "If it’s what you want to do Kat…why would it be my place- or anyone else’s to hold you back from that?" He tilted her head up with his finger and placed the plane ticket to the side as he pressed their lips together in a soft kiss. "I love you, and I’d do anything for you…I don’t exactly know what you want me to do with that ticket…but…" He took a deep breath. "If you want to go…go."
Staying at Scarlette’s was definitely different than being at home. Surprised that the Blonde’s parents actually liked her, Kat told them she was going to see her boyfriend and they smiled and nodded, letting her go. Getting a small travel bag, Kat set it in the car and turned it on going over to the boy’s house. She got out and stood up, feeling odd with jeans on instead of a dress. She fixed her hoodie and grabbed the back, pulling out the key to get inside his house. She opened it and her mouth dropped, slowly turning into a big smile. “What is this?!” She giggled and walked to him, hugging him tight. “I missed you so much. So happy to be back.” She smiled big and rested her head on his chest, realizing that he had no idea that she wasn’t at home, but at the moment, she didn’t care to talk about it. She just needed that time with him and that’s all she really cared about. “You are too much, okay? You are perfect.” She shook her head and looked around, seeing the movies she loved sitting there. “How did I get you?”
Riley almost forgot that Kat had a key, so when he heard the door open, he was a bit startled- the next thing he knew he was wrapping his arms around his girlfriend and holding her closely against him, as the puppy wiggled around and barked at the two of them. He laughed quietly and kissed the top of her head, wrapping his arms around her waist as he watched her let it sink in. “This- is our date. I spent all afternoon building that blanket fort because the puppy kept messing it up, but she’s on her best behavior now…I hope.” He laughed quietly and rolled his eyes, gesturing towards the clothes he set out for her. “If you want to get comfortable, there’s some of my clothes for you…I don’t really know. Sometimes I think I should be asking that because honestly I wonder why me…” He bit his lip softly and took a deep breath. “Whatever you want to start with- it’s your choice. Tonight is all about you.”
Oh, I guess that means you’re really good. Maybe I’ll come to a game and make fun of you and criticize you about things I know nothing about once in a while. I don’t really want to talk about it. Thanks, though. I just need to get my head on right.
Hey, we could always use someone to mock us. Alright, if it makes you feel better- I’m always here. No worries.
